My career path in short
I just recently moved to Chicago and I realized I’ll be seeing some new faces and curious readers about who I am and I figured this was a great time for a walk down memory lane with a refresher of how all this evolved.
I wasn’t 100% sure what I wanted to do after high school.-2004 for context- I was the first in my family who really entertained college (we couldn’t afford it) so in the meantime I did just as my mom and sister, got a great paying job at the hospital. I could work wild hours without a degree and get pretty good pay in comparison to my other job options at the time. (I’m starting here so you can see just how much this story has come around)
By 2005 I wanted to give college a shot. I knew I wanted to do radio and television but didn’t know how that looked at the time. I was able to leave the hospital and return during the summer for work as needed. Even in Charleston I was able to land a gig at the hospital in registration. It was in these spaces I got a chance to see the way the system was designed and how it could be better.
By 2010 I was tired of feeling like I wasn’t really contributing to anything in the workplace and I wanted something different. I finished up massage school in 2011. Since then I’ve connected with amazing skilled mentors along the way and that’s how I got so good at what I do. I got introduced to TCM, lymph, fascia, Thai massage, and Reiki-just to name a few. These all helped my understanding of the mind and body connection that much more.
From 2017 on, much of my training was about the energetic and emotional connection to pain. Now my work has a blend of so many of these tools and that allows me to assess and assist my clients with a much deeper understanding than the average practitioner. I like to say I’m the person in between what the physician is recommending and the therapist. Tools like Astrology, Human Design, and Access Bars helped me expand and pour even more into my community. They were necessary in the creation of my podcast “Who You Callin’ Holistic?”
I provide a metaphysical perspective rooted in a practical and grounded understanding of it all. Welcome to my world!
